An Aggie Family

Utah State decided to start a new tradition called the "Aggie Family Legacy Award". Its to honor families who've had a lot of members attend USU or contribute somehow. They gave the first award to the "Pop" Watts Family (my grandpa's dad). He had 8 kids that were all raised in Logan and have gone on to have their own families, etc. attend Utah State. Apparently there's been over 200 people who've attended and graduated that are all members of the family so they had a dinner to award this. There was over 200 people at the dinner. It was pretty cool and a good time, we saw and connected with Family members we haven't seen forever.

Some Christmas Sweaters

We spent Christmas Eve with my family and Bart was dead set that we wear Christmas Sweaters for the event. He got the vest from his mom and the sweater from his grandma. Angie and her family stayed at my parents house that night. And Troy just gave me a look like "are you serious?" Then Angie said cute sweater. I just said thanks, me and Bart both gave them to each other for Christmas and left it at that. She was dying because she thought I was serious. It was a few days later that she was relieved to find out I was joking.

"The Post that G Built"

Actually, it's more like "The Post that I dreamed up and Bret & Bart Built with my careful supervision." I did do all the painting and picked out the materials and determined exactly how it was going to be done. Bret came over with his saws and we put it together. It was great.

The purpose of the post???

I got this cute decoration from my mother & sister-in-law at one of my showers when I was getting married. Ever since we moved into our new house, I couldn't find the right place to hang it so I decided to build the perfect location.

Ho Ho Ho

We had a Christmas party with Bart's mom's side of the family, The "Eames." We had a blast and Santa showed up and we all sat on Santa's lap to tell him what we wanted for Christmas. When was the last time I sat on Santa's lap????

At the end of the night the doorbell rang and this was lit up on the front porch. Seriously, how awsome. I've never seen one in real life, it just brought "A Christmas Story" back to me... "You'll shoot your eye out." I especially like this movie because Brian was positive one of his mission companions was Ralphie. He kept telling us it was really him, it wasn't.

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas...

I know... Its about time, Its been so busy around here, that I have been totally neglecting the blogging. But its time to get back to business.

Our first Christmas in our new house and its great, we're now trying to do all those things that neighbors do.

• Christmas Lights on the house
• Christmas Tree & Ornaments (my sister told me how to do home made ornaments, but it didn't happen this year. I bought the stuff, but never got Bart to sit down with me, next year we will have them on the tree).



• Stockings, (the mantle is on the way)

• Shoveling Walks
• Neighbor Gifts, with clever sayings (I've never been good at that, is Merry Christmas clever? Because that's probably all they will say).
• Baking Treats (I'm going to have to save that one for next year, I did make some killer chex mix, does that count?)
• etc., etc., etc...

I do have to say we got a killer deal on the Christmas Lights and clips. As Bart said, they were all on sale because... "only idiots were putting lights on their roofs 2 weeks before Christmas." Next year, I'll plan better. Bart and his dad, Bret, did some awsome work getting the lights on our house, it was freezing outside, and I really appreciate the sacrifice.

Happy Anniversary

I can't believe it. Bart and I have hit the year mark. I can hardly believe time has gone by so fast. Its been a great ride. In the past year, so much has happened. We have learned so much about each other and still have a lot of learning to do:

Some of the things we've learned and taught each other in the past year:

1. I have a major cover fettish, I wake up in the middle of the night to straighten them out and try and make sure they are even of both sides. Who knew that was in me?


2. Bart gets into bed and immediately throws the bedspread off. This totally throws off the balance and drives me crazy. He complains that I steal the covers, but I think, if you give them up at the beginning of the night, what do you expect? Plus, this is why I can no longer sleep through the night.


3. Bart is a huge SPORTS Fan. (Football is #1) Did I seriously not know this? I don't think I understood what a SPORTS Fan was until being married. At any time you will find him watching Football, Baseball, Golf, Basketball, etc. He's constantly checking scores on his phone. And we get ESPN magazines and multiple Golf Issues. I'm learning everyday. And Bart is teaching me all about the games. He keeps me updated on all his teams, I sure appreciate it.


4. Bart does not enjoy Lifetime, 90210, or my cheesy Family Movies. Now I'm on my own to watch and analyze all the drama and cheese. I used to have roomies to watch all that with, now I'm just on my own and without people to talk to and hang out with while there on, it seems like I'm wasting way more time than I used to.


5. Bart is so great to always help out with anything, and usually has a good attitude about most things I drag him too. (hours of shopping, not a good idea)


6. He makes me feel like a champ and likes everything I cook or attempt to cook, at least thats what he says.


7. Food does not last as long as I thought it would. When I first started cooking, I would make a meal thinking it would last all week and I wouldn't have to do another thing except warm it up all week long. Well, I now have come to realize that if it makes it to 2 meals thats good. Bart has quite the appetite.


8. I taught him the proper way to clean a toilet, his method was totally unacceptable, but he was a great sport during the lesson, not sure he's applied it yet. Next on the list, hospital corners.


9. He is strong in the gospel and helps me all the time. He is so willing to help and usually goes straight up to the Bishop to find out how he can help (I like to fly under the radar as long as possible, not Bart).


10. I love how well he gets along with people. He has great relationships with both our families and friends and I just love it. It makes it so much fun to hang out with friends and family.

Its been a great year and I look forward to many more. I love you, Barty Pants!

Who Stole the Cookies from the Cookie Jar?

The good thing about that questions, is if it wasn't me, it only leaves one other culprit... Bart.

So the other night, I pull out my pull apart, already prepared sugar cookie dough. To make us a little treat. I pull them out of the oven and take one for myself. Probably about 10-15 min later. I go back and the tray is EMPTY, except for 1 Cookie!! Seriously, I was not happy!

Logan's Getting Strict!

I got this notice in the mail for an outstanding Parking ticket, dating back to June 9, 2008. It had a late fee and everything on it. This totally threw me off, because I never got a parking ticket on my car. I couldn't for the life of me figure out where I would have been when I got this and was really bugged about a late fee for something I never got. I made a few calls and turns out I got a parking ticket in front of my parents house. OK, seriously!!! People have parked in that very spot probably a million times and on June 9, 2008 at 2:15 pm they decided to write me down as being too close to the sidewalk. All I can say is seriously isn't there anything better to do than come to residential neighborhoods with the measuring stick? Now I have everyone concerned about where you can park on that block, well how should I know. I'm ticked!

Question... Which Dwight is Best?

For Halloween, Bart decided to dress up as Dwight Schrute. I think he pulled it off well... Way to go Dwight, I hardly know the difference.

What do you think about my little new Baby G?

Is it just me or do these kids look a little older than kids? I see a slight mustache and wrinkles. The mustache I get, thanks Bart. But the wrinkles, are we seriously that old????? Anyway since we don't have kids yet, its good to at least know what we're in for. A few of the first options I tried were seriously discouraging. I think it had to do with the outfits that were popping up, creepy chicken suits and all sorts of stuff and some seriously bad hairdos. If this things accurate, I may be in for some Dumb & Dumber Bowl Cuts.

Not Your Average FHE

So for all of you who know DoJo (my mom) you know that sometimes our activities are based around a much younger audience. She taught 2nd grade for one year and there were a whole lot of ideas that just didn't get accomplished in one year. So now us kids live out the activities of a 2nd grade class. Its great when the little ones are around because they LOVE it. We do too, it definitely gives us something to laugh about afterward.

This particular Sunday, my mom had a great idea from my niece, Hailey (3 years old). She had done a whole roleplay thing for family night and DoJo wanted to give it shot...

After dinner, she disappeared, while the rest of us cleaned dishes, for probably an hour and a half. She was writing the script...

The Return of the Bus:

Several years ago we had to load up the bus and drive hours to the temple. This time the bus was reincarnated as a mini-van. You can see we're in the USA by the placement of the steering wheel.

DoJo is waiting patiently for all the kids to settle down, before we start.

Home Sweet Home

I finally decided it was time to start making our house a home. I hung up my first decoration, finally. A wreath on the front door. Millie told me months ago, I needed one and since I love fall, I figured it would be the perfect start, a fall wreath. I can't wait for Millie to come in person and help me with the rest.

Friendly Trip to Plymouth

I spent a few days in Massachusetts and got to see Plymouth Rock. Not what I was expecting, but its pretty cool to know you've seen it. The town was really fun, just small and old fashioned. The ship is a replica of the Mayflower.

Gracie Ann

My sister Angie finally had her girl.

She had Gracie on September 29th. She's a doll and just tiny. She decided not to find out what she was having so it was a big surprise for us all.

GO AGGIES, GO AGGIES, HEY, HEY, HEY!!!

It was a huge day for Aggie Fans: a real win and a good game. I actually saw some of the plays as well, you'd think I would've learned a thing or 2 about football in all my years around the game, I didn't. I'm an excellent people watcher and I never miss a cheer or dance routine on the field, but today I cought the game. We got season tickets to the Aggie Football games and Bart's teaching me about the game.

Each week is a little lesson,

• last week: "what is a first down"


• this week: "to see the game you have to watch the ball on the field" (interesting concept).

Today as I was watching the game, I saw these orange flags getting thrown around the field, I asked Bart why people were throwing stuff on the field. Aparently thats how they call penalties!!

But Aggies beat Idaho 42 to 17. WOW.

Daily Trip Through the Auto Spa

So since we have no kids as of yet, I've decided to add a few random thoughts.


Everynight Bart asks me if I'm headed to the Auto Spa when I head into the bathroom to wash my face. Not sure if everyone one else comes out the same way but Barts says it's like I just got pounded by a bunch of water balloons or strolled through the car wash. Soap in my eyes, Water up my nose. Its a rough ride and its so great to have such an understanding husband.

Big "B" Got Married!!

My brother, Brian, got married on Thursday, August 7, 2008. It was such a fun day. He married a darling girl named Whitney. We all loved it and such a blast celebrating the big day with them.

The Dinner Details

We had a Wedding Dinner and Open House on the day of the Wedding. The Open House was in our backyard and it was absolutely beautiful (for about the first 20 min) right up until the clouds burst open and rained out the event. It was a mad dash into our house, it turned out great and definitely memorable.

The "Event Planner" in me tried to document all the details, however the rain put a kink in my efforts, I didn't think people would like to see a ton of pics w/o people so I tried to condense it.

Whitney's from Burley, so there was another Reception on the following Saturday, August 9. So we got to celebrate twice, YEAH!
