He has finally started to get it and open his mouth for the spoon, but now he has decided that he should be an active part of the process. I hate to discourage this because I know he needs to learn how, but Seriously??? It is such a mess. Now when I put the spoon in front of his mouth, he has to grab it and put it in his mouth. He won't even open his mouth unless his hand is on the spoon. Usually when his hand grabs the spoon, he gets it in the mush. The mush then gets flung around when he waves his arms and then he rubs his eyes or touches his face. The other day, it was all in his eyes. Poor kid, we had to cut mush time short so we could get him in the tub to flush the mush out so he could see again. Who knew?

As I was reading this I remembered that I used to let my kids hold an empty spoon while I fed them. It made them happy and I could still get the food to their mouth. Worth a try:) good luck.
